The Plaza de Castilla Courthouse (Poeta Joan Maragall 66, 28020 Madrid) hosts most of the capital's criminal activity: the Investigation Section, Criminal Section and Prison Supervision Section of the Court of Instance of Madrid. Knowing its procedural dynamic, judges and "courtroom culture" is decisive for case outcomes. The Violence against Women Section of the Court of Instance of Madrid has its seat in Julián Camarillo, and the Criminal Chamber of the Audiencia Nacional and the Investigation Section of the Central Court of Instance are located at García Gutiérrez 1.

Detainee Assistance at the Former On-Duty Court

Every detainee in central Madrid ends up at the Plaza de Castilla duty service of the Court of Instance (formerly the on-duty court, Juzgado de Guardia). The first decisions are determining:

• Detainee assistance: We appear at Plaza de Castilla with the greatest diligence possible once notified, preparing the statement —or deciding on silence— before judicial appearance. If the initial assistance is provided by a Madrid Bar Association duty lawyer, we formally take over the defence as soon as we are contacted.
• Fast trials: A very significant share of detentions for theft, minor injuries, DUI or breach are handled via fast trial. A plea reached under Art. 801 LECrim allows for a one-third sentence reduction.
• Precautionary measures: We oppose pretrial detention requests, disproportionate bail or passport retention by establishing local roots and absence of flight risk.

Former Investigative Courts of Plaza de Castilla

The Investigation Section of the Court of Instance of Madrid (formerly the Investigative Courts) allocates cases by rotation. Each judge has its own criteria on phone interceptions, searches, pretrial detention or admission of evidence. As a firm based near the complex, we know each holder's procedural preferences across recurring categories: property crimes, fights in nightlife districts, road safety, and cybercrimes.

Former Gender Violence Courts (Julián Camarillo)

The Madrid Violence against Women Section of the Court of Instance (formerly the Gender Violence Courts) operates from the Julián Camarillo facility in coordination with Plaza de Castilla. It is saturated and resolves precautionary measures within hours. Restraining orders are not automatic: the judge decides on them after the urgent hearing under Art. 544 ter LECrim, where our defence immediately provides WhatsApp chats, geolocation data, witnesses and psychological expert evidence.

National Court and Central Court of Instance

The Criminal Chamber of the National Court and the Investigation Section of the Central Court of Instance (formerly the Central Investigative Courts; a body distinct from the National Court) sit at García Gutiérrez 1, away from the Plaza de Castilla complex but close to our office at Velázquez 27. We undertake defence in macro-cases for corruption, money laundering and organized drug trafficking, with the specific logistics required by cases with millions of pages.
